I've been on assignment this week for Southwest Signs photographing signage at various sites around SA. Our stop today was at the Pearl Brewery, a historic landmark in uptown on the river that is currently being remodeled into an "
urban-suburban hip-hop setting." Okay, I tease, it's not urban-suburban or hip-hop -- sorry Michael Steele. It's a stretch of shops, eateries, cafes, studios, offices, public spaces... you get where I'm going. It's pretty awesome. I have a feeling that, with Southtown's recent string of back luck with First Friday vandalism and other hoodlum-spun mischief, this may become a new arts complex some thirty years down the line. They're already subletting studios to artists (most of which have parents with fat pockets, no doubt) in hopes of moving young professionals in. The realty group that owns and leases these spaces out is the same group that owns the building that houses P S Galleries in Olmos Park, so I'm sure they're asking a pretty penny at Pearl. Anywho, enough of that. But let me not forget to mention the awesome full-scale farmers market that is coming to the Brewery starting in May! There will be a "soft opening" this Saturday starting at nine. Perfect place to get your spring greens for Easter Sunday eatin'!
Here are some randmon pictures I took on the grounds between photo shoots.
